Images made in the fleeting flicker between the practiced and prescribed selves. Black and white, guilded unguarded; glimmering. Yours.
A portrait experience for those who choose to be seen.
Why These Portraits Matter
These sessions began with a realization: portraiture, as I've come to practice it, is not about appearance. It's about agency.
After years photographing artists, actors, and survivors, I saw what happens when someone feels safe, seen, and unhurried in the face of a revealing inner challenge. Empowerment Portraiture grew out of that experience.
Most clients are not performers or public figures. They are doctors, lawyers, public servants, seekers. People navigating hard milestones or celebrating long-awaited ones. These portraits are quiet refusals of expectation.
Some arrive on the recommendation of therapists, not as a prescription but as a practice of presence. In that way, the work often ripples outward, becoming part of a larger healing process. A step forward if you'll let it be so.
I'm not a doctor. I'm a fellow seeker who has found a way to be of service. This work isn't clinical. It's connective. At my hopeful best, I am an instrument; a marker along your discovery path.
The images become a record of your life: lessons learned, dreams formed or forgotten, judgments made, hopes surrendered or embraced. Whatever their shape, they testify to the courage of presence: I am here, right now, and this is what it looks like. Choosing to make that record visible — to yourself and if you wish to others — is an act of self-recognition. It is a step toward saying yes to now, and yes to who you are becoming.

"When you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls. When you photograph them in color, you photograph their clothes." — Ted Grant
I love that quote. It isn't exactly about this, but it is about honesty. That's what we're after, whether you're in a sweater or just a shadow. Sometimes a little mascara is a whole outfit.
